Start it up

This is a print and play activity. Simply cut the hearts in half and then have your child match up the upper and lowercase letters.

Mr. R loves matching games. He is able to recognize all the letters already so he had no trouble with this activity.

Level up

Mixing up upper and lowercase pieces in the same pile will certainly extend play time. You could also ask your child to sound out the letter or name an object that begins with that letter as they are putting the hearts together. This will help them develop their reading skills.

Pair it up

There are so many great books on learning letters available. Below are a few recommendations that Mr. R asks for repeatedly.

1. Alfie and Bet – These two friends go on an adventure to find their favorite letter but in the end realise that each letter is special.

2.Dr Seuss ABC is a classic. It not only makes learning the alphabet fun, it also helps children understand rhyming.

3. Magnetic wooden letters from Melissa and Doug, foam letters that you can use during bathtime or letter floor mats are all great as well.

This activity is just one of 20 included in my Valentines activity pack. Check out the full pack here.

Enjoy!
